Supporting the working moms of Mahindra

In the bustling corporate world, where demands are high and expectations even higher, we stand out as a shining example of an organisation that recognises and supports the unique challenges faced by working mothers. At Mahindra, the company's commitment to creating a supportive culture and implementing progressive policies has truly transformed the lives of countless working mothers.

One of the cornerstones of our supportive culture is our emphasis on work-life balance. The company understands that working mothers often juggle multiple responsibilities, from managing their careers to caring for their families.

Take a look at a few company-wide policies that are geared towards supporting expecting and working mothers at the workplace. These initiatives prioritise the needs of working or expectant mothers and offer flexible work practises, safe travel options, and additional support to facilitate their smooth transition back to work after career breaks. They also provide the flexibility to avail themselves of part-time employment opportunities.

For instance, Mahindra Logistics has introduced the Birth and Beyond policy, which aims to support women employees in achieving a balance between their home and work responsibilities. It offers flexible work schedules and manageable workloads to accommodate their needs during this crucial period.

Some of the other company-wide policies are as follows.

Creche policy

The creche policy is available to all mothers, allowing them to utilise it for a maximum of two children under the age of six. All company locations, as mandated by law, are equipped with creche facilities. Alternatively, employees have the option to choose external creche services, and the expenses will be reimbursed. Mothers are permitted to visit the company-provided creche facility up to four times per day, including during designated break intervals such as lunchtime.

Maternity support

This policy offers flexibility and support to expecting mothers during pregnancy. Some of the options they can avail of are:

  • Remote working and flexibility in work hours, in discussion with the managers
  • In cases of medical emergencies, cab fare reimbursement can be availed

Part time employment

The part-time employment scheme offers employees the option to work a minimum of 12 days per month or 27 hours per week, providing them with flexibility. This policy can be utilised for a maximum duration of one year, and once availed, it can be accessed again after a period of five years. In the case of maternity, employees can avail this scheme once every three years for up to two children.

The company recognises that when working mothers are supported, they are more engaged, productive, and satisfied in both their personal and professional lives.

We take pride in inspiring change and leading the way for a more equitable and empowering future in the corporate world.
