The Group has been working to integrate sustainability as part of its core business strategy; To that effect, Mahindra Lifespaces and Accelo organised sessions involving all stakeholders across functions
Sustainability is one of the leading priorities for the Mahindra Group. We aspire to become an industry leader in sustainability, and this can only be achieved through demonstrated action. Across Group companies, we’ve been working to integrate sustainability as part of the core business strategy and across functions. In that endeavour, two Group companies, Mahindra Lifespaces and Mahindra Accelo, organised crucial sessions involving all key stakeholders from across functions.
Mahindra Lifespaces organised the annual ‘Sustainability Maturity Awards’ to recognise high impact work and rewards individuals, teams, and leadership, exclusively for their role in integrating sustainability within everyday decision making and actions across business.
The Awards are evaluated using the Sustainability Maturity Assessment Framework, a quantitative tool developed inhouse, to evaluate performance of teams pan India locations on 5 parameters:
- Team Engagement and Awareness
- Data Quality and Assurance
- EMS (Environment Management System) integration into IMS (Integrated Management system)
- ESG initiatives across project lifecycle
- Associated savings on resources and costs
- Adherence to compliances
Champions in the organisation wear different hats, belonging to various functions, and are therefore rewarded across diverse categories including Best Architect, Data Champion, Safety Champion, Water, Waste and Tree conservation champions, Science-based Target champions, and so on. This exemplifies the deep integration of sustainability in the business.
Mahindra Accelo, for the first time, organised a ‘Sustainability Masterclass’, calling upon 70+ individuals across the business, company CXOs, plant heads and their teams to come together and understand the foundational concepts of ESG and environment sustainability. The session was led by Ankit Todi (Chief Sustainability Officer, Mahindra Group), who covered the key concepts, group vision and company specific priority areas and key actions required at the plant.
Consequently, Sumit Issar (MD and CEO – Mahindra Accelo) himself nominated key champions across multiple functions and business sites to ensure accountability across levels and to drive initiatives on ground.
