The initiative was announced at the ‘Waterwheels Distribution’ event, scheduled on 16 February 2023, in Mangle ki Beri village of Barmer.
A simple innovation, waterwheels help women collect more water in one go, reducing the hardship faced by rural women, and therefore improving their overall health and well-being.
With the rural population as one of its key stakeholders, MRHFL’s mission is to transform rural lives and drive positive change in these communities.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr Rajan Samuel, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India, said, “Habitat India has always played a crucial role in providing affordable, safe, and healthy housing to the underprivileged segments of society. In partnership with MRHFL, we are providing waterwheels to 1,062 families from 12 villages in Barmer, Rajasthan. This will ensure ease of access to clean water for the families and lessen the burden on women and girls.”
MRHFL has executed this programme together with NGO partner – Habitat for Humanity India, a housing non-profit organization that helps low-income families across India with shelter and sanitation by building healthy housing ecosystems.
Previously, MRHFL has successfully implemented CSR programmes in various fields such as education and gender equality, preventive healthcare and sanitation, and environmental sustainability.
