Mahindra Thar SUV, the highly acclaimed budget off-roader SUV in India, has reached a significant milestone by selling one lakh units in the country. Launched in August 2022, the Thar has become a favourite among adventure enthusiasts and off-roading enthusiasts alike, thanks to its competitive pricing and exceptional performance.

With a price range starting from INR 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom) and going up to INR 16.77 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mahindra Thar offers a wide range of options to cater to different customer preferences.

The iconic specs

Under the hood, the diesel variants of the Thar feature a 1.5L CRDe engine paired with a manual gearbox, generating 117 BHP and 300 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the petrol variant of the RWD range boasts a 2.2L mStallion 150 TGDi engine with an automatic gearbox, delivering 150 BHP and 320 Nm of torque.

The 4WD version now comes equipped with a state-of-the-art electronic brake locking differential developed in collaboration with Bosch. This advanced feature enhances traction in low-traction scenarios, ensuring a smoother off-roading experience. Additionally, the LX diesel 4WD models offer the mechanical locking differential (MLD) as an optional feature for those who prefer it.

The wait period

While the diesel versions have a precise waiting period of 17 months, the fuel trims enjoy a relatively shorter waiting period of around one month.
