Mahindra-owned Pininfarina Battista is described as “the most powerful road-legal Italian car ever built”
From dream to reality – the iconic Battista
Battista is a pure-electric hyper GT designed, developed, and handcrafted in Italy, named in honour of iconic designer Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.
It was Battista’s dream to create a car that would wear only the Pininfarina name, following his incredible design creations on behalf of the most revered carmakers in the automotive world. Mahindra is proud to have supported Automobili Pininfarina in its mission to realise this dream. But this is much more than a dream - it is very real and now in series production in Cambiano, northern Italy.
Pininfarina Battista represents the pinnacle of technology in Electric Vehicles, in its truest form. Not only is it a design masterpiece and the most powerful car ever made in Italy, but it is also officially the fastest accelerating car in the world!
Taking the Battista to its limit
The team at Autocar took the 1900 hp Pininfarina Battista to its limits on NATRAX’s (National Automotive Test Tracks, Madhya Pradesh) 11.3 km high speed track to set a total of five new speed and acceleration records!
Here’s a tweet from Hormazd Sorabjee, the editor of Autocar, recounting his record breaking spree in the magnificent Battista.
Watch the video of the Battista in action – going at 358.03kph!
The 358.03 kph top speed is also the highest for any EV in India – the third new record that was achieved in this run.

The fastest Indian woman
The Autocar Show editor, Renuka Kirpalani, is now the fastest Indian woman, having recorded a top speed of 357.10 kph on her own run in the electric hypercar.
Kirpalani said, “There’s always a lot of nervousness when you have to do something so big, but the Battista made it so simple, it was unbelievable. Just the lightning-fast acceleration and the glued-to-the-ground feel made me feel so absolutely confident to keep my foot planted to the floor.”
Setting new records
The Battista not only set new Indian speed records, but it also added a couple of new production car world records to its already storied list of achievements. The Battista set new production car world records for accelerating from 0-300 kph in just 10.49 seconds, with a quarter-mile time of 8.55 seconds.
A testament to the world-class facility – the NATRAX high-speed track
The four-lane, 11.3 km long test track was conceived for top speed runs, acceleration tests, high-speed durability, and stability testing. For a world-renowned hypercar to be tested and validated here at the NATRAX is quite commendable.
