Energy — The backbone of all industrial activities
Energy is the backbone of all the activities in our daily lives and industrial activities. Wastage of this valuable resource is detrimental to the business as well as our survival. Efficient management of energy reduces costs, as well as GHG emissions.
A two-pronged approach to conserve energy
At Mahindra, we understand the importance of energy and have taken a two-pronged approach to increasing energy productivity and growing the green energy ratio in the total mix.
The Energy Management Program
To inculcate these approaches, Mahindra Institute of Quality (MIQ) and Group Sustainability conducted the 8th batch of the training course Energy Management - The Mahindra Way at MIQ Nashik on November 17 –18, 2022.
The program’s main objective
The program’s main goal was to raise awarenessof energy conservation for effective asset selection, resource utilisation, process optimisation, enhance operational efficiency, as well as to disseminate latest techniques and advancements in the field of energy management.
The faculties
Internal
Internal faculties from M&M and Susten explained the topics like Carbon Neutrality, Science Based Target (SBT). Energy Productivity and Solar applications for businesses.
External
External faculties from companies namely Schneider Electric, Grundfoss. Wipro, Atlas Copco, Eco First, Trane and Secutech Automation shared their knowledge on topics like Energy Management Systems, harmonics, green buildings, pumps & pumping systems, effective lighting, compressed air systems, HVAC & refrigeration, building management systems.
Energy Consultants advised the participants on legal requirements and energy audit methodology.
The participants
Thirty-five participants from Auto, Farm, Swaraj Division, & Mahindra group companies like Accelo, Aerospace, TechM. MLDL, and Mahindra Holidays attended the course.
Breakout sessions
During the breakout session, participants brainstormed and generated ideas to improve energy efficiency at their respective locations.
Feedback
The course was appreciated by all the participants, and it has received feedback of 4.5 on a scale of 5. Participants also gave valuable suggestions to include sessions on best practice sharing and plant visit.

Anand Marathe, Anirban Kundu from Group Sustainability and Mangesh Chirokhani, from MIQ, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. designed and coordinated the course.
