The Mahindra Group - which took the lead in organising corporate India’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic has been awarded the first-ever COVID Crusaders Award, 2020. The award for ‘Exemplary work done by a Corporate in India’ category was shared by the Mahindra Group along with Godrej Industries.
The award has been instituted by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce along with the US Consulate General, Mumbai. It celebrates the true spirit of humanity and recognises the efforts of individuals, MSMEs, start-ups, NGOs and corporates in India and USA towards Covid relief measures.
The Group was among the first corporates to deploy men and material in the fight against the pandemic. Mahindra leveraged its expertise and resources to manufacture ventilators, face shields, face masks and hand sanitizers. In addition, the Group also provided cooked meals and dry grain packets to the needy.
The award was given away at a virtual award ceremony held on September 25. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra, Asa Hutchison, Governor of Arkansas, David Ranz, US Consul General, and Naushad Panjwani, president IACC West India Council, were among those who attended the event.
About 76 corporates were nominated from which 41 were shortlisted for the final round. A jury comprising eminent personalities from India anonymously voted for the winners in various categories. Other winners of the award included Google, Akshaya Patra Foundation and Goonj. The award is a shining testament to the Mahindra Group’s credo of Rise for Good.
