With a focus on empowering communities and driving social impact, Echo highlights various initiatives undertaken by the Group with the start of a series that brings together the CSR initiatives undertaken by our companies that aim to address pressing societal challenges.
This week, we delve into Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Swaraj Division's initiative, Project Gyandeep. This endeavour is dedicated to bridging educational disparities for government school children, particularly girls, in the Majri, Kharar, and Derabassi Blocks of S.A.S. Nagar district.
Project Gyandeep is a multifaceted approach aimed at not only improving academic performance but also nurturing holistic development. Special coaching classes, conducted by seasoned educators, focus on key subjects like Science, Mathematics, and English, laying a solid foundation for future educational pursuits. Additionally, the provision of study materials tailored to board exam patterns equips students with the tools necessary for success in these examinations. The coaching sessions are structured to not only cover the syllabus but also to address common problem areas and misconceptions. Regular assessments are also conducted to track progress and tailor teaching strategies accordingly.
Beyond academics, Project Gyandeep addresses the basic needs of students, providing essential school supplies to alleviate financial burdens and encourage regular attendance. This holistic support fosters a conducive learning environment, empowering girls to thrive academically and personally.
The impact of Project Gyandeep reverberates through the district, with approximately 1400 girls across 11 government schools benefitting from its interventions. Moreover, all intervened schools reported a 100% pass rate of Girls in Class 10th examination. This achievement highlights the effectiveness of the targeted educational support provided by the project.
The project not only improved overall pass rates but also significantly impacted the lives of individual students, with three students from intervened schools topping the district rankings.
Through Project Gyandeep, Mahindra Swaraj has been illuminating pathways to knowledge, nurturing the dreams and aspirations of the girl child. As we celebrate these achievements, we reaffirm our commitment to driving positive change and fostering inclusive growth in communities nationwide.
