Mahindra Logistics is launching its first Community Centre of Excellence for skill development
Committed to our core values of social responsibility and sustainable development, The Mahindra Group has been instrumental in enacting positive change across the country. With a focus on empowering communities and driving social impact, Echo highlights various initiatives undertaken by the Group with the start of a series that brings together the CSR initiatives undertaken by our companies that aim to address pressing societal challenges.
Starting with Mahindra Logistics' (MLL) latest initiative, the launch of ‘Community Centres of Excellence’ (CCoE). MLL established its first training centre in Bhiwandi, followed by another in Guwahati within Q1 FY25.
MLL now plans to launch these CCoEs across the nation, in partnership with Logistics Skill Council, a not-for-profit organisation set up by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, to address the shortage of skilled workers in the logistics sector.
The CCoEs will initiate a change in the Indian Logistics sector and provide the beneficiaries with skill development training and certification in warehousing, transportation, and other supply chain operations while generating employment opportunities for them.
The centres will serve as a catalyst to equip both semi-skilled and unskilled workforce in the sector through meticulously crafted training modules, encompassing theoretical learning and practical hands-on experience.
Both the centres, together aim to train over 500 individuals in FY’25 including those from underprivileged backgrounds, women, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
The logistics industry in India is one of the largest employment sectors, providing livelihoods to over 22 million people. Imparting industry-relevant skills and certifications will ensure continued growth in the Indian logistics landscape.
As Group companies continue to make a difference in communities nationwide by rolling out CSR initiatives across various sectors and regions, watch this space for more updates and announcements around the same.
