MIQ and GSO introduce an ESG Certification Programme

This unique 10-day programme is designed with a blend of ESG concepts, methodologies and best practices

With an increasing need to recognise climate change, resource depletion and social inequality, there is a heightened focus on sustainability. Understanding the ethos of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), therefore, has become of the utmost importance for individuals and organisations across various sectors.

To address the same, Mahindra Institute of Quality (MIQ) in collaboration with Group Sustainability, launched a programme to build comprehensive knowledge and practical skills amongst mid-managers in ESG. The 10-day programme is designed with a blend of ESG concepts, methodologies, tools and best practices leading to a ‘Certified ESG Practitioner’ certification.

The genesis of the certification programme stemmed from the need of developing comprehensive ESG competency building. Through collaboration with the Mahindra Group Sustainability team and local experts, a holistic syllabus was developed to provide a deep understanding of ESG and its integration into business decision-making processes. The programme, divided into three phases, saw an overwhelmingly positive response from participants in the initial phase held from December 6 to 9, 2023, with classroom sessions and guest lectures from industry experts forming key components.

Abanti Sankaranarayanan, EVP, Group Public Affairs, and a member of the Group Executive Board also leads the Group Sustainability function at M&M Ltd. She inaugurated the Phase 2 of the ESG certification programme held between February 19-21 and even addressed the participants about the implications of climate change and the importance of individual responsibility when it comes to championing sustainability.

The programme's impact extends beyond internal organisational value, offering certifications that equip participants with comprehensive ESG knowledge to drive sustainability initiatives both within their organisations and in the broader job market. Future plans involve expansion to cover a diverse range of topics based on participant feedback, consideration for employee diversity across different sectors and roles and continual refinement based on ongoing evaluation and feedback mechanisms.

Let’s hear it from the participants!
