What ignited your interest in photography?
My passion for photography was sparked when I stumbled upon an unbelievable image of myself strolling out of the airport in Ireland. Witnessing the magic of how a single photograph could make even me look good that emotion sparked a fire within me to capture the soul and beauty of people through my lens.
How did a hobby become a passion? Have you trained in photography?
As time passed, my love for photography was not limited to being just another hobby. With each passing day, my love for the jungles deepened. Its connection became irresistible, drawing me back time and again. I’ve come to realise that this connection with nature is my true calling, driving me to explore and capture its untamed beauty through my lens. I found myself investing significant time in attending sessions by professional photographers & refining my skillset. Although I haven't taken up any formal training in photography, I've harnessed my skillset via on ground experience and continuous mentorship from seasoned passionate professionals in the field of photography.
Why have you chosen 'wildlife' as your specialisation?
I've chosen wildlife photography as my specialisation due to my deep-rooted love for nature. It's where I find my zen moments. Through my work, I aim to convey a crucial message to today's parents: wildlife isn't merely about visiting a zoo; it's about immersing oneself in the natural habitat of these animals, witnessing firsthand the harmony between humans and wildlife. Through my lens, I aim to raise awareness about the urgent need for conservation and the importance of protecting India's natural heritage for future generations.
How does it feel to have your photograph featured by National Geographic India?
Being featured by National Geographic is an incredible milestone for any photographer, and for me, honestly, it's a dream come true. Knowing that there are countless talented photographers out there, I'm honoured by this recognition. However, this acknowledgment motivates me to go out there and shoot more. A reminder to continue pushing my creative boundaries.
Can you share some details of travels that you have undertaken to fulfil this passion?
My journey into wildlife photography began amidst the challenges of the pandemic in April 2021, when I ventured into one of India’s leading Tiger Reserves - Bandhavgarh National Park. There, amidst the beautiful jungles, I was fortunate to encounter the majestic presence of 11 Tigers, an experience etched deeply in my memory. Since then, my expeditions have taken me on a thrilling journey through diverse landscapes, from the mesmerising jungles of Ranthambore to the mystic forests of Kanha and Pench. I've wandered through the untamed beauty of Jim Corbett, Kabini, Bandipur, and Satpura, each journey unveiling new wonders and photographic opportunities. Yet, amidst these remarkable adventures, Tadoba remains a cherished gem, close to my heart and home in Maharashtra, offering endless inspiration and captivating moments to capture through my lens.
Could you please share a few tips for those passionate about photography, and how they can pursue it?
Photography goes beyond simply taking a picture. It's about immersing yourself in the moment, capturing the essence of a moment that will last a lifetime. Don't treat it as just another task on your list. Feel it. Absorb it. Let the moment resonate within you. Remember, you don't need fancy equipment to tell a story. Even your phone can be your greatest asset. Sure, there may be limitations, but don't let that hold you back. Embrace the challenge and let creative juices flow. So, to all the budding photographers out there, strive to be a storyteller & not just a photographer.
