Highlights of the Group's World Environment Day celebrations showcased a collective effort to make a positive impact on our planet.

Plastic collection drive

In the week preceding World Environment Day, Mahindra Group organised a plastic collection campaign. Dedicated colleagues from across the Group Corporate Office (GCO) contributed to this remarkable effort by bringing in 2-5 kilos of plastic waste from their homes. The total plastic waste collected surpassed 100 kg!

As an appreciation for their commitment, the employees were given eco-friendly products and jute bags in proportion to their donations. The collected plastic was responsibly managed by authorised recyclers from Via Green. Notably, this was the first plastic collection drive conducted since the pandemic.

Green shopping bazaar

The green shopping bazaar, held on World Environment Day, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the GCO and beyond. The bazaar received a fantastic response, with employees making purchases worth over INR 1 lakh. We proudly partnered with home-grown, local, and small businesses/brands to curate a diverse range of sustainable alternatives for daily needs –  from biodegradable toiletries and cleaning products to sustainable stationery, locally made jewellery, house plants, and more.

The event engaged employees through on-the-spot quizzes and rewards, generating awareness about the climate emergency. Additionally, our team conducted in-person interviews with vendors, exploring their inspiring journeys of building climate-friendly businesses from the ground up.

Mahindra environment quiz

Held throughout the week, this group-wide quiz gathered participation from employees, their family members, customers, and our social media followers. Winners of the quiz were rewarded with exciting vouchers and eco-friendly goodies, encouraging them to embrace sustainability in their lives.

Mahindraites eagerly await the various Group-wide initiatives that take place on Environment Day every year, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to corrective action, when it comes to the conservation of the Earth. We are proud to have celebrated World Environment Day this year with such enthusiasm and dedication. These activities reflect our collective efforts to create a greener and more sustainable future.
