World Heritage Day is celebrated every year on April 18 to raise awareness about the importance of cultural heritage in our lives. This year, we looked at one of Mahindra's oldest pieces of heritage.
Let's rewind a few decades and zoom into South Mumbai (then Bombay)! The story goes that a struggling company, Turner, Hoare and Co., owned a majestic building in Apollo Bunder.
News of the poor business reached KC Mahindra, who was told that the only way to buy the building was to buy out the business. KC Mahindra took the advice and bought the company for INR 9 lakh. As the legend goes, they later discovered a safe inside the building containing INR 13 lakh, which helped recover the substantial investment.
Since then, the building has borne witness to Mahindra's incredible journey, serving as a constant reminder that ambition and creative thinking are integral to our legacy.
