Kabira 2022

Mahindra Kabira 2022 opened its arms to its guests, alongside the banks of the River Ganga in Varanasi.

In the city that is sentinel to its history, we embraced the wisdom of the 15th-century mystic poet – Kabir – with music, literature and discourse.

The festival took place at the historic ghats of Varanasi from November 18-20, 2022. The Festival honours the teachings and the life of Kabir Das in a melodious affair, including a plethora of classical and folk music, talks and live art demonstrations, boat rides, a delectable local food journey and the quintessential ‘Ganga Arati’ experience.

A festival steeped in mysticism and music

The two-day festival steeped in music, history, and serenity is celebrated in November every year.

The sixth edition of the Mahindra Kabira Festival, once more, inspired an experience of intangible beauty and musical intensity. The idea behind Mahindra Kabira is to feast one’s senses and spirit on the calm within the chaos of the world’s oldest city and feel that intangible “oneness amongst diversity” preached by Kabir, through the unrivalled power of music, literature, and the arts.

Inclusiveness is the focus

Kabir’s poetry is all about inclusiveness – and like every year, Mahindra Kabira Festival 2022 celebrated this philosophy and essentially brought to music-lovers, an unforgettable experience of listening to leading exponents of the Benares gharana and folk traditions, Sufi music, classical music like dadra, thumri, khayal gayaki styles, ghazals and pakhawaj and tabla players in an ambience redolent with history. The festival acts as a melting pot of voices and colours intrinsic to the pulse of India’s cultural matrix.
