M&M achieves ‘World Leader’ status in the DJSI 2024; TechM at #1 in India and #2 globally in the Software & Services Segment
Mahindra & Mahindra has once again achieved ‘Leadership Status’ in the prestigious DJSI World Index 2024 in the Auto Sector, with an impressive 12-point increase from last year. With a score of 82/100, this marks our 4th consecutive year in the index, and we are now the 1st and only Indian company to attain DJSI World Leader status and ranked #2 globally in the Automobiles Industry.
Tech Mahindra, a leading provider of digital transformation, consulting and business reengineering services and solutions, has also achieved a score of 88 (100 percentile) this year and become the only Indian company securing rank #1 in the Software & Services Segment on DJSI World Index 2024 and #2 globally in the segment.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) is one of the most respected global benchmarks for corporate sustainability, evaluating over 13,000 companies across various industries. The DJSI survey covers a very wide set of areas within an organization across environmental areas (operational performance, climate strategy, product portfolio, reporting quality, biodiversity actions), social performance (HR policies, safety, IT, CSR, marketing, etc.) as well as governance elements (incl. supply chain, risk, tax strategy, policy action, and increasing supply chain actions) and hence can be considered a true reflection of an organization that is integrating sustainability and ESG across departments – be it procurement, marketing, IT, supply chain, operations, etc. and also investing in new areas such as biodiversity action.
M&M’s progress this year can be attributed to specific key improvements made during the year:
- Improved ESG Framework and Transparency: We published an annex to our sustainability report, offering detailed insights into key ESG metrics, significantly enhancing transparency.
- Policy Revisions – signed and endorsed by top leadership
- Sustainability Policy: Expanded to reinforce our dedication to sustainable development and operational excellence.
- No Deforestation Commitment: Introduced under our first Group Biodiversity Policy.
- Tax Policy: Revised to ensure greater transparency and alignment with ethical practices.
- Improvements in Public Disclosures:
- Environmental Stewardship: Progress in areas such as waste and water management, life cycle assessments, low-carbon products, sustainable materials, and climate risk mitigation.
- Social Responsibility: Increased employee training, development programs, OHS, human rights, and sustainable supply chain practices.
- Governance Excellence: Enhanced cybersecurity measures, stronger corporate governance, more robust public policy advocacy, and refined risk management strategies.
This recognition underscores our ongoing commitment to integrating sustainability. We remain focused on our responsibility to lead with integrity, drive meaningful change, and create a sustainable future that benefits both people and the planet.
