Mahindra Group’s Annual Sustainability Champions Meet 2023 saw 40+ employee collaborating to drive sustainable action
To further Mahindra Group’s commitment to advancing a sustainable future, employees across the group convened for the annual Sustainability Champions Meet, a one-and-a-half day conference, organised by Group Sustainability team, on November 20 and 21. The event served as a catalyst for initiating strategic action plans for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025 (F25), under the theme of 'Planet Positive,' metrics and featured sessions on target setting, best practice sharing, collaboration and synergy.
Common action templates for businesses were discussed to capture and track metrics and progress on sustainability at the Group-level, and to align internally with relevant company stakeholders.
Abanti Sankaranarayanan, Group Chief Public Affairs Officer, provided a comprehensive exploration of the ’Planet Positive‘ framework, setting the stage for aligned sustainability metrics and action plans for businesses.
The conference featured an immersive panel discussion with Dr. Sunita Purushottam (Head, Sustainability at Mahindra Lifespaces), Kiran Sarkar, (Sustainability Head for M&M Ltd.), Ankit Todi (Lead, Group Sustainability Strategy & Partnerships) and Anand Marathe (Lead, Group Sustainability Reporting & Disclosures and Business Impact), moderated by Abanti Sankaranarayanan, who discussed the evolving role of sustainability teams and changing stakeholder expectations.
Other highlights of the conference include, discussions on cross-sector synergies through insights from the Group RE project with Susten, and exploration of collaboration avenues within the Group. Sriram Ramachandran, Group Chief Risk Officer, and Prithviraj Srinivas, Group Chief Economist, provided valuable perspectives on integrating sustainability with business.
This collaborative effort aims to enhance the understanding of sustainability across the Mahindra ecosystem, fostering cross-sector learnings and paving the way for strengthened synergies in future endeavours. The companies that contributed to this initiative include Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra Logistics, Mahindra Lifespaces, Mahindra World Cities, Mahindra Finance, Mahindra Susten, Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Holidays and several new entrants namely, Mahindra Teqo, Mahindra Aerospace and Mahindra Defence, signifying the expanding commitment of the Group companies to foster sustainable practices within their businesses.
