In a significant stride towards planet positivity, Mahindra Susten has solidified its commitment to combat climate change by signing a momentous 25-year power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL). This landmark agreement encompasses a substantial 200 MW solar capacity that holds the potential to reshape the renewable energy landscape.
Aligned with the philosophy of ‘Rise for a More Equal World,’ Mahindra Susten's latest venture underscores the paramount importance of renewable energy in mitigating the harmful effects of climate change. By securing this solar capacity through GUVNL's 500 MW Phase XIX solar auction, the company has proven its dedication to fostering environmentally conscious solutions.
The solar project, seamlessly integrated into the interstate transmission grid, is poised to furnish GUVNL with an average electricity supply at an impressively low rate of INR 2.72 /kWh. Over the course of 18 months, the project is slated for completion, promising to generate approximately 450 million units annually, right from its inaugural year. This commendable initiative is projected to contribute over six billion units of clean energy over the span of 25 years.
Mahindra Susten's resolute pursuit of sustainable energy solutions not only sets a remarkable precedent for the industry but also echoes its steadfast commitment to fostering an equitable and eco-friendly world.
