Empowering Our People

Celebrating the extraordinary women at Swaraj Tractors

Mahindra Swaraj’s Project Prerna envisages training women with skills and techniques that help them generate income, which in turn leads to empowerment. Project Prerna aims at generating livelihood opportunities for women farmers through sustainable solutions.

Here’s a look at the various CSR initiatives taken under Project Prerna to mark International Women’s Day.

Infrastructure development

The day began with handing over the girls’ toilet constructed in the Government Primary School Majri in Punjab to the school’s administration in the presence of Arun Raghav, Senior GM (ER, Admin and CSR), the village sarpanch, teachers, students and 10 ESOPS volunteers. This infrastructure would benefit over 150 girl students enrolled in this school. Speaking at the occasion, Arun Raghav shared the importance of CSR initiatives in improving quality of life and bringing about social development. The village sarpanch and teachers thanked Swaraj Tractors for improving the school’s basic infrastructure.

CODE

CODE by Swaraj Tractors is a tractor especially built and customised for farmers working in the field of horticulture. Shaped like an ATV Bike, it’s a narrow and lightweight machine specifically meant to fit through the narrow lanes of horticulture farms.

As part of Women’s Day celebrations, the Swaraj Division recruited a new batch of women employees deployed at the recently set up CODE assembly line at Swaraj plant-1. This is in line with Swaraj’s approach to empower – Promote, Orient, Weave, Engage and Recognise women employees.

The newly inducted women employees of the CODE assembly line were greeted and motived by the leadership team from the Swaraj Division, including Harish Chavan, CEO, Swaraj Division; Sanjiv Anand, Vice President, Manufacturing; Arun Raghav, Senior GM, Employee Relations, Admin and CSR; and Sandip Bhangale, Plant Head, Swaraj plant-1.

The team ensured their onboarding in the organisation and acquainted these women with various processes such as safety protocols and POSH training. On-the-job training was given to facilitate women to get accustomed to the manufacturing setup.

The event ended with a photo finish when the Swaraj Executive Council team posed for a picture with all women employees and pledged to promote diversity in the organisation. Women employees stood in the shape of the acronym POWER, which is Swaraj’s approach to gender diversity.
