Festive cheer continues to fill the air at Mahindra thanks to the impressive automotive and tractor sales notched up during November this year. Our SUVs have shown a strong double-digit growth last month, aided by festive demand.
Sales grew by 24 percent with 18,212 units being sold, against 14,637 units during the same period last year. “Given strong rural growth and signs of improvements in economic activities, we are hopeful of seeing this positive momentum continue post the festive season,” said Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division.
The pick-ups and commercial vehicles’ performance also saw double digit growth, while the Farm Equipment Sector (FES) marked a robust growth of 55 percent in November 2020. Hemant Sikka, President, FES announced that the cumulative tractor sales (domestic and exports) stood at 32,726 units (as against 21,031 units in November 2019). “Rural sentiments remain positive on account of higher kharif output and rabi sowing,” Mr. Sikka said.
Global Safety Recognition for Thar
Another beacon of light during November was the All-New Thar which has seen strong initial demand. Now this iconic model has added another feather in its cap having been awarded a 4-star safety rating by Global NCAP in Germany – the highest safety rating for a body-on-frame SUV. What makes the recognition even sweeter is the fact that the entire safety simulation and development of the All-New Thar was done indigenously – at Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai.
In fact, safety lies at the heart of all Mahindra vehicles. The XUV300 has already established a new benchmark in vehicle safety in India, with a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. The XUV300 also topped Global NCAP’s six-year safety rankings, making it the safest among all the vehicles tested during this period. Mahindra’s Marazzo MPV has also earned a 4-star safety rating. Mahindra & Mahindra is the first and only vehicle manufacturer in India to be awarded the Safer Choice award by Global NCAP.
